My Faves of 2010 pt. 4 ::: Indiana Wedding Photographer

Part 4 in my "Faves of 2010" Series. This post features Kristen and Jimmy's wedding at Valle Vista Golf Course in Greenfield, Indiana. It was a beautiful setting for such a fun and beautiful couple. It was only a little chilly riding on the back of a golf cart to go do Bridal portraits in 35 degree weather. lol.

Faves of 2010 pt. 3 ::: Indiana Wedding Photographer

Part 3 in my "Faves of 2010" series is Christa and Frank. They got married in a beautiful little church in Brown County, IN. If you've never been to Brown County I cannot recommend it enough. There are great little shops all along the town and then you can come back to a cabin in the woods and relax after a long day of shopping. Who wouldn't want to do that?

My Faves of 2010 pt. 2 ::: Indiana Wedding Photographer

This is part 2 in my "Faves of 2010" series. I had a GREAT time photographing families (some new some old) and I wanted to remember every one of them :) This post features Amanda and Jason who got married at a very popular (and beautiful) spot here in Anderson, IN (Mounds Park). It was such a beautiful day and I love the trees at the park. I had a great time photo-ing Amanda and Jason :)

Goals for 2011 :::Indiana Photographer & Etsy Artist

Its December, almost January, and its to slow season for photography. With a little down time, I've been able to think about what I want out of next year. I know that I will be photographing some AWESOME couples and families and I truly cannot wait to meet each and every one of them! However there are a couple of non-photography related things that I would like to happen.

#1. I want to paint more. If I can sell a couple, that would be cool, but I really just want to have something that I can do when I come home from The Hardware Store. You'd be amazed at how much working retail can really stress a girl out, especially when she works the return desk mostly. ha.

#2. I want to buy a house. I know, crazy right? I plan on moving things around in my schedule at The Hardware Store (if possible) to try and pick up some more hours while still doing the photography thing. While it might be hard, and there might me little to no days off, I'll have a few extra dollars to put back for the house and home studio.

#3. I want to Blog regularly. I've been pretty good so far, but I'd like to keep you guys in the loop. Who knows, maybe somebody out there finds me interesting...or maybe its just cheap therapy. Who knows, but I love sharing the things I know with everyone so there are usually some interesting things going on around here on this blog.

A New Hobby ::: Indiana Portrait / Wedding Photographer

As most of you know I've been trying to find ways to be able to quit The Hardware Store. Easier said than done, but I'm hoping I will get their eventually. I started the whole food thing for a few days and after reading up on the subject of making it legal was a bit discouraged. I found out that I not only had to have my kitchen inspected (which I didn't really mind) but I'd have to have it inspected EVERY time I wanted to change a recipe or add a recipe to my shop. If you know me, you know I have ADD when it comes to changing my mind so this would have been a real pain in my back side!

So I thought I would post a few of my Digital Art Prints that I have been messing around with lately. I love the idea of putting a print with a lot of color in a simple white frame and have it make a statement. I've also started doing a few of them buy hand, painting some on canvas and doing some on Card Stock with Sharpies. Its pretty relaxing and someday when I finally buy a house I imagine I'll be adding a painting corner to my office :) As of right now, my office had better be pretty huge, because its already got a desk, mini-gym, and art nook in it. lol.

If you would like to see some of the prints available go to http://catlinhumes.etsy.com I will be adding my handmade ones to the listing soon; I also take requests to make personalized ones with a person's name or anything else.

Just Me ::: Indiana Portrait Photography

Over the years so much changes. One of the great things about looking through old photos is seeing how everyone changes over the years. As a photographer I tend to always be behind the camera and don't get too many photos of me. (Which is both a good thing and a bad thing, lol).

So I wanted to start this experiment and take a photo of myself at least twice a year. So, I'll post this one as my first :) Taken by the lovely Vilma at GEM Photography. One day I'll drag my husband into one of these photos...but he is an unwilling subject, so who knows ;)

Keeping Love Alive ::: Indiana Wedding Photographer

So, whether you are trying to prevent falling into a rut after you've been married or just need a break from wedding planning, this post is for YOU!

Date night is something that NOT a lot of people take the time to do any more and the result can be a lot of disappointment. Ladies love to feel romanced and and guys don't mind stuffing their faces every now and then so here are a couple of ideas to get your date nights started.

Its not well known, but it IS a simple fact that my husband and I do NOT go out as much as we should and this is what got my mind going for these blog posts. When we do go out, most of the time we go down to the local steak house (Lonestar) and we share a place of cheese fries. Its not terribly expensive (about $25 after drinks) and I love actually sitting down in a restaurant and catching up the the Hubbs.

Another one that is TOO easy to even think about is GO SEE A MOVIE. Movies have been letting us escape reality since before the depression...and you know what? Even DURING the depression people went to go see movies. Its two hours that you don't have to think about bills, kids or anything else and if you go and see a scary movie, then its the perfect opportunity to snuggle in close! If I had to recommend a theater in the Indy area I'd go with the Hamilton 16 IMAX. I've had nothing but good service there :)

Caty's Kitchen

As some of you know (and if you hand out on this blog long enough you'll figure out) I have two passions in life. The first, of course, is taking photos of wonderful families and happy couples starting their lives together. However, in my "down time" (does that even really exists?) I love to cook!

As some of you know I've been looking for ways to break away from my day job at The Hardware store and just do the photography thing full time. I was looking into doing catalog parties for a while, but nothing that was already out there tickled my fancy. Then one day I was baking cookies and thought "Why not start my OWN catalog?" So that's what I'm doing, thanks to my ETSY STORE and FACEBOOK. You can now order baked goods and candies from me by emailing me at catlinhumes(at)yahoo.com or messaging me on Facebook if you are already my friend. And if you aren't my friend, then you totally should be.

If you would like a hard copy of my catalog send me an email with your address. I'll also send you a copy of "The Menu" which has things that are not listed on my etsy store. Think of it as a Chinese menu of treats! If you live in my area (Anderson, IN/ Noblesville, IN) then I can deliver them to you for FREE. If not then there is a flat $5 shipping fee for orders under $25. PLUS, 10% of all profits go to local charities.
